Look like a Gucci model at Target Prices!

It seems like everywhere I look designers and high-fashion magazines are presenting looks of glamorous color-blocking, metallics and cat-eye shades. These are all very daring, especially for plus-size frames and I thought I'd put together an outfit of affordable separates for the full figured fashionistas out there who are not ready to commit to one wild, color-block piece or sky-high price tags.

I was really lusting after the Gucci look that was shown last spring and may be responsible for all the brights and color combos his season. I find rich teals and blues to be more wearable than spring's shades of orange. Check out the FoxyRoxy take on the runway looks...on the cheap!!

Put these all together with gold accessories, big gold hoop earrings and a ponytail and you are ready for  the hottest new lounge, VIP style. Oversized cat-eye shades shown below are a good take on the trend for larger or round faces. Also, for added boldness, color block your whole body with coral suede chunky platforms, instead of the matching Cerulean/Cobalt/Gold peep toes.

Size 20 UK reality TV star in a monokini...and the press likes it?!

Once again, here we are back again on recurring Foxy Roxy topic: Why is the UK so much more accepting about plus-size females than the US?!
They best thing is that women over a US size 12 (UK 14) aren't event considered plus size. They are just considered as chicks. In my experience, you are either hot or not in the eyes of the Brits, size isn't discussed.
British reality star Gemma Collins was recently snapped on holiday sporting a revealing monokini, and the press has been applauding her 20lb weight loss and encourage her by referring to her as "slimmed-down". In this country, people would be outraged and this reality star would be lampooned all the way into an eating disorder.
Good for her! I applaud the fact that she is confident enough to go out on holiday in front of paparazzi in a skimpy suit and not covering herself in a tarp. I also applaud and understand the desire to lose pounds but not your curves. The fact that she wants to get to a size 12 and STOP, i think sets a healthy and realistic standard. All too often to celebs become skinny-obsessed after one unflattering picture and don;t know when to stop.
Tabloids have called her new figure "sexy"!! She is sexy, though, I don;t think monokinis look good on anyone and would have chosen a more supportive suit. But cheers to her for rocking it!
WOW!! I am impressed with you British tabloids and reality TV. Bravo! Check out the Daily Mail's Article here

On this side of the Pond we are on the heels of the massive scandal of American Apparel's XL Model search, claiming that the zaftiq winner Nancy Upton "wasn't their demographic" and somehow defining plus-size girls as a weird sub-category of woman who is no larger than a 12 and can take pics of her "backing up her junk" in spandex.   The nasty letter from the American Apparel creative director points out that they always embraced the plus size community by carrying up to a 3XL in some styles. What a joke! The only things that would fit over a size 12 in that store are the gross manly beefy-Ts that should be screened for concert Ts not considered fashion.
American Apparel, and America in general, in my humble opinion seems to glorify young, anorexic, disturbingly nubile tarted-up things so much so that that all women in the public-eye are shamed if the paparazzi catches even a tiny bit of cellulite. (see above. I mean this girl looks 14!) A star over a size 4? Stomach pooch after eating a sandwich? Start the pregnancy rumors. Sad.

There is more to life than weight, and we forget that. Women are women. Some are hot at size 6 some are hot at size 16. Good for England for letting their celebs be any size they want to be!!!

Foxy Roxy's Top Ten Women

Recently we have thankfully been seeing curvy celebs but it seems like with every new one you see another buckles to the pressure to become the Hollywood ideal, even when a smaller dress size doesn't suit her frame. Case in point, Jennifer Hudson. We here ar FoxyRoxy feel that she should have kept on a few pounds in order to keep her natural curves. Though still pretty, she just looks a little odd post Weight Watchers. This goes for you too, Kelly Osbourne, Jordin Sparks and America Ferrera. Still awesome gorgeous women but, why the sudden weight loss?

So we have compiled a list of celebs rocking the red carpet in something over a size 10. What's more is that the following ladies are fabulous first, and fat second. I hate when plus ladies get pigeonholed only to play "the fat friend" or make a career out of poking fun at her size. The best is when size takes a backseat to how awesome they are.
Here are our picks. What do YOU think of this list? Comment below.

1. Adele
She can sing. She can dress. She can charm the press and peers alike. She can win Grammys writing about the losers who broke her heart. Sucks to be those guys, because she is one of the most successful women in music. All hail Adele!

2. Mia Tyler
She may be known as Steven Tyler of Aerosmith's daughter or Liv's sister, but we like to think of her as the rock and roll princess that turned plus-size modeling around. She's married rockers, graced the cover of magazines and even had the guts to pose nude. Rock on!

3. Amber Riley
She holds her own next to the rest of America's sweethearts on Glee and shows up with the trediest styles on the red carpet.

4. Brooke Elliot
On Drop Dead Gorgeous, she at first played a character that was all about her size, but now her character has developed into a sassy, smart woman who runs it! And she even gets the sexy lead!! Finally!! I hate it when shows always have the plus size women with the fat men playing opposite them but every shlubby/fat male character on TV or Apatow movies gets the skinny supermodel love interest. Boooooo! Plus size women can date the model types, too! Trust me, I know from experience. ;)

5. Beth Ditto
She has been lampooned for "glorifying" the unhealthy side of plus size, but as far as I know her health is fine. She rocks as a lead singer and doesn't give an F what people think. A true rocker. Surprisingly enough, she became a darling of the fashion industry when designers such as Karl Lagerfeld and Jean Paul Gautier finally realized that fashion and awesomeness comes in all sizes and put Ditto on the runway!

6. Sara Ramirez
She was the sexy Dr Callie Torres on Grey's Anatomy and though she, much like our next entry, are not really "plus" size they sure throw Hollywood a few curves that they normally can't handle!

7. Cristina Hendricks
Driving Men Mad as well as all of Hollywood that can't stop talking about her voluptuous good looks

8. Queen Latifah
I don't mean to put her so far down the list because she is incredible, but she has been applauded as a famous full figured vixen for years. I wanted to make way for the newbies.

9. Christina Schmidt
There are many plus size model/actresses out there but we picked this fresh face from Canadian fashion spreads and such shows as Degrassi. She is gorgeous and actually looks plus-sized instead of tall model who are just hot but since they over 110 lbs, they are considered plus-size though looking thinner than most average women. Christina is so stunning and we are glad we came across her!

10. La Cholita
Few things are as awesome as a curvy woman who is so comfortable with her body that she makes her money and fame as a burlesque star. I once read about her in a magazine and ever since I found her look, style and confidence to be so incredible. Viva La Cholita!
