Needle in the Haystack: Where are the Wearable Spring Trends?

After combing through the Fashion Week pictures for Spring 2013 trends in Vogue and Glamour, Foxy Roxy is declaring that this may be the most unflattering roundup of styles to hit the runways in recent years. Case in point, THIS:

It is not even the worst pic I could find, but it gives you a snapshot of what trend-slaves will be shelling out top dollar for. The roundup of what couture houses are offering:
- Mismatched prints in the same outfit
- bright colors
- watery blues and mint greens
-sheer elements/satin
- black-and-white graphic prints/checkerboard seen at Louis Vuitton
-  90's florals (small print) AND 70's floral (graphic flower prints/funky color think Miu Miu)
-  and in some cases, looking like you dressed in the dark....like THIS Balenciaga sweatshirt/tutu disaster that I am really hoping is a joke. See Below:
Balenciaga, Runway London 2013

Most of these are trends that should never be attempted at ANY size, but for plus sizes most are fashion suicide!

In an attempt to weed out anything in this mix that could be palatable in a normal woman's daily life, I separated each trend concept in my mind and went searching for anything in plus sizes that both looked wearable AND had at least one of trends involved. Then chose structures that would flatter and overall looks that seem quality enough to be couture. Tough task! Take a look at what we found, in case you are dying to look on-trend EVERY season.

Get Adele's "Skyfall" Oscar look!

If you are like me, you too have a huge girl crush on Adele. What is not to love? She is talented, funny and stunningly gorgeous!! I loved her floor-length Jenny Packham on the Red Carpet but her glittering ensemble stole the show when she took the stage to perform "Skyfall."
Aidan Mattox, Saks Salon Z, $285 (only avail. in black now)

All I could think was, I want her outfit!!

This look is all about sparkles, rhinestones, big hair and bombshell makeup.

Sadly the designers who make her clothes, only make plus sizes for stars, so...

Foxy Roxy presents some attainable options for all of us mere mortals who want to look Oscar-worthy!

David Meister, Saks.com Salon Z, $397.60

Vintage Rhinestone Cluster Earrings, Etsy, $25

Silver Rhinestone Platforms, Amazon.com, $155

Downtown Chic...decoded.

Here in NYC,  Foxy Roxy is always so covetous of the "Downtown" look of effortless, edgy cool. You see celebs rocking this look when avoiding paparazzi in the West Village.  It is embodied by the distressed leathers, muted tones, rocker edge, and eclectic mixed style seen at places like Diesel, All Saints and countless pricey NYC SoHo boutiques.

Sadly this is a style and color palette that is rarely found in the plus size lines that cater to classic looks or bold super-trendy club wear. We have had trouble finding that in between look of modern, pulled-together scruff a.k.a the celebrity-expensive hobo. Then, on a clearance rack at Macy's, I found the perfect start!! A Michael Kors scuffed leather motocycle jacket in a Diesel-ish color - someplace between brown and dark grey.  Finally! Also, it was awesome that it was on sale from $500 to $145! I then played around until I found the formula for the perfect laid-back-but-posh urban edge look. I took it for a spin at one of the hottest brunch spots below 14th street and people LOVED it!! Check it out:
