Better Bridal Looks for Every Size and Every Style

With so many weddings creeping up these days, it got me thinking, "What options are really out there for brides over a size 14?" I know that wedding-mania spawns obsessive weight-loss desires, even from the most confident of women. Personally I think it is absurd to need a body transformation for a day that is supposed to celebrate your relationship with a partner who loves you just the way you are. So keeping in that spirit all of the following bridal finds are for a plus-size bride to look her best at her size.

As soon as I started looking, I noticed that most of the options are poufy, strapless princess gowns. Some of them can look good, but in my opinion, it hides curvy ladies' signature decolletage and highlights the upper arms, which let's face it, isn't always our favorite body part.

FoxyRoxy is on a mission for flattering, unique, high-quality gowns with a right-off-the-runway feel for any kind of bride. Move over David's Bridal...check these stunners out:

Rock Summer Festivals like a VIP

It's summer and more than the beach, I am getting excited for music festival season. I missed Coachella this year, but I will be off to England to take in some sweet acts from the VIP tent. Lucky me! I was able to score VIP experience tickets since I got them months in advance. Open bar, grub, cool Brits, and above-average port-a-potties - which is key! OK OK, so I won't be getting the camp-in-the-mud street cred, but I am a little old for the Woodstock thing.  Regardless where your tickets are, you should still rock some celeb-style, because it is fun and there are always some sexy prospects for a summer fling.

Aside for my love of music, festivals bring out my love of bizarre summer fashions that I would never normally sport.  For some reason, music festival fashion to me is always slightly hippie-ish. I try to do a blend of modern-neutrals, trendy accent-color, and some tough rocker accessories.

Here are some of the finds that I will be rocking as I rock out:
1.  Start with a hippie/rocker fringe bag that is big enough to carry everything you need: sunscreen, water and even a rolled up bed sheet. Smaller and lighter to pack yet bigger to sit on with your friends on the grass.

2. Sure, usually I'd opt for low-rise cropped jeans and a sexy tank from torrid.com but for a more VIP look I am going to add a sundress that is cool, breezy and fashionable. Here are my favorite picks that fit, flatter and look super-chic:
Jazz up this tunic with neon yellow or green. Newlook.co.uk £22
Gap, Cascade dress, $69
OldNavy.com

Gap's neutral wrap dress goes up to a size 20. I think this is the most crave-worthy, modern style of the season and goes with anything!
Old Navy's maxi dress is made of comfy jersey material and the bright tribal print is very on-trend for Summer 2011. Also comes in black with gold beads.

3. Add fresh, bright colors to make it really young and fun - perfect for a summer fest!
Aside from my hot pink or coral shiny lip gloss, I really like these funk accessories:
Gap.com, Great to cinch plain jersey dresses! Try it with navy.
coral plastic bangles, $13
Bongo, Ombre blue and purple shades, $12.95
4. Finsh off with some rocker edge with leather and studs. These wedge flip-flops are comfortable while still giving you the leg lift you need to look your legs look their best!
Zappos.com, Gypsy Soule wedges $228

La Mer Studded Watch, $106. Best way to keep track of time and make sure you don't miss your fave band's set!

Now all you need are your tickets, friends, some cash, and a coat of self-tanner to give your self a base before heading out doors!
Rock on, my foxy ladies!!

Destination: French Riviera/Monaco- Classic Grace Kelly Style

Your Dream Vacation: The French Riviera and Monaco
You: Classy, chic and a modern-day princess. You love the finer things in life, but loud, VIP scenes are not your thing.  You love sophisticated, pieces that stand the test of time.
Your signature drink: Crisp, white wine from the Loire Valley
Your designer wish-list:  Chanel , Hermes, Givenchy
Chanel carry-all, $85/week, avelle.com

Hermes scarf, $305

Givenchy Sunglasses, $169

Roamans,  $54.99
This kind of glamour comes at a price, and if you are not Grace Kelly or a starlet at Cannes, you can rent signature pieces or score used couture on eBay in order to look like a million bucks for a fraction of the cost. If you pack your bag with a mix-and-match wardrobe in a classic palate of black, white and red, you will dazzle any resort in the Riviera. The first thing I would buy would be Monif C's 2011  "Monaco" cutout one-piece (left). The name says it all! The figure-flattering retro silhouette and sexy cutout is a perfect staple. I can't wait to buy mine!    This black and white swimdress offers a bit more coverage and can be worn as a tunic top and paired with white wide-leg pants for a day out shopping.   Snag that hat too for days that you are not keeping your hair under wraps with an Hermes scarf.
Swimsuits for All, Suit w/ pareo, $68

Eliza Parker, "Monaco" dress, $229

RSVP "Sarina", $49, zappos.com
Another designer, Eliza Parker, also conjured up a piece named after Monaco that is vintage-inspired. The hidden pockets, belt and circle skirt are just perfect for lunch in Nice or striking up an affair with some French bachelor who is checking out your hourglass figure. Don't forget your kitten heels or strappy red heels.

Other than a day-to-night dress, white wide-legs, swimwear, hat, and a couture carry-all, you should pack a sexy top like this one for $34, from eBay's FunFash or a wrinkle-free white blouse. You will be a casual coquette with capri pants and silver espadrilles (a steal at $15!) or crisp, white Keds.   A black jersey skirt is as affordable as it is versatile - use as a pool cover-up or with a black tank and pearls for dinner. A long faux-pearl necklace is great to double as a necklace or wrapped as a bracelet.

DEB shops, $79
Planning on doin' it up Casino Royale style? Well then you need to also remember to pack a gown because Monte Carlo casinos only allow well- dressed potential high rollers. This super-cheap gown is also travel friendly, as it is slim enough to pack and doesn't wrinkle much.  It is also a close match a $1,000 Marchesa gown. You already have those pearls and red shoes so I guess all you need is a clutch bag and some pearl-and-rhinestone chandelier earrings.

Double down and leave that place shaken, not stirred.

Bon Voyage from Foxy Roxy!

I hope you have gotten some inspiration and direction. Happy shopping!!

Holiday in the Sun: Diets,Dance and Deals on Couture Duds -Get ready for the beach!

Hello there sexy ladies! No, this blog post has nothing to do with the Sex Pistols song, but it would be admittedly cooler if it did. It's about winter daydreaming and with all those orbitz and travelzoo sale emails, planning fantasy vacations is so easy. If you are anything like me (and don't live in a summery locale) you are so sick of this winter! I usually love fall/winter so that I can wear cute tights, boots, and sweaters. I am over it.

All I can do these days is dream of nice warm places I can escape to...and all the amazing stuff I can wear! Tune in this week for features each day on the travel style-picks for different destinations: Miami, Hawaii, French Riviera, Hamptons and a Mediterranean Cruise!

This post is about what to do beforehand to get beach-ready!

I suggest that the first thing you do before heading on your sunny vacation is grab the lotion and an incredible new pair of shades. I am obsessed with designer shades, but I have found some incredible ones for $5 on the street too. As long as they look so glamorous on that you don't want to take them off, then you are set. I have cherry picked a few of my favorite pairs to inspire you - from classic glamour to funky, beachy colors:
Tom Ford, "Miranda" $258 (my all time faves!)
Chanel, "Havana" $339

Emilio Pucci, Aqua Gradient, $360

If you want to try out slick designer shades, but are having some sticker shock go immediately to www.avelle.com and RENT  the hottest new couture accessories!

AGAIN,  PLEASE CHECK BACK EACH DAY FOR HOLIDAY PACKING GUIDES TO FIT EVERY BODY AND RESORT STYLE!!

BEAUTY REVIEWS:
OK and now for a list of things you need to remember to get done before getting on that flight, aside from picking your best beachwear.
1. Build that base! Weather you like the tanning booth or spray tan, hit the tanning salon and banish that pasty, winter skin. Since I can tan easily, I am a fan of high pressure tanning beds. Just 1 or two 12-min. sessions and I have a nice glow.  Spray tanning is a bit more tricky because you have to pick a shade that will work with your coloring. Spray tans do NOT have to make you Jersey-shore-orange - they actually have very light colors, perfect for people with fair, sensitive skin that freckles instead of tans. Ask you salon for help choosing a color and always go one shade lighter than you think, because you can always go in for one more coat if you need it.

2. Get ready for the swimsuit! Foxy Roxy is all about loving one's curves -no matter what size. As long as you are healthy and happy, who cares what the tag says?! That being said, if you want to look a bit more svelte before hitting the sand, I have a few tried and true ideas.
  •  First of all, DO NOT take diet pills or try some fasting gimmick. It is unhealthy and will actually slow you metabolism later. Instead, I am a huge fan of the Special K two week challenge to lose a quick 6 lbs or try  The Rice Diet - on which I who have failed at every diet on earth-  lost 20 pounds in 1 month!! It was also great to cleanse my palate and get me to appreciate eating right.  No smoking, caffeine, booze, sodium, meat or processed food for 1 month was actually easier than it sounds because I got results within 3 days.  Go to www.livestrong.com to calculate what your resting metabolic rate is and see what you can eat to lose what you want.
  • Move that body! Want a fun way to tone while learning hot new dance moves before vacation? Take up Zumba! A mix of latin, hip-hop and music video dancing you have a blast while blasting through up to 900 calories a class!!  Find a class near you at www.zumba.com Beware: this class can kick your ass. Stay hydrated and take a breather when you need it.
  • Don't care what the scale says, but want to smooth out a few lumps and bumps? Here is a quick fix for cellulite. Even gals who are a size 2 have cellulite and it is the most stubborn thing to deal with. This is the best that I have tried that give good results in a few weeks but the results are not permanent sadly. With Ionithermie you can lose inches of water weight and smooth out dimples in only 1 session! It is expensive but you get far better/faster results than many endermologie massage treatments that are equally pricey. I lost 2 inches off my thighs in 1 hour, but it only lasts a few weeks until water weight creeps back, unless you do sessions regularly. Find a salon in your area here. They are around $150 per session and all you feel is warm vibration after they wrap you in magic mud and electric pads.  It's a little annoying but virtually painless
  • Body wraps are great for smoother, firmer skin and an inch or two of water weight loss in a day but beware of the "at home' kit gimmicks. None of them work. I have tried many.  Instead find a salon near you that does inch loss body wraps - they are both effective and soothing. The warm heat is relaxing your skin is left smooth and supple.
  • Exfoliate! You have been in dry winter weather and it's time to give your body some luster. Make your own body scrub  that energizes and smoothes your skin using coffee grounds. Freshly exfoliated skin is best to get even results if you use self tanners, too. There are many scrubs out there but I thought it'd be cool to give you an idea that can be made with stuff you have in your pantry - saving you more money for pina coladas!
  • Wax. I shouldn't even need to tell you this. You have been bundled up under so many layers for so long you just may have forgotten about your trusting waxing lady, but time to giver her a call. Seriously. For sensitive skin try hard wax instead of wax with strips.
  • Hot, Hot Feet! Either at home or in a salon, time to do a quick mani/pedi so you are sandal-ready. Go wild with Minx Nail decals (check out my beauty review in January) or paint on a bold hue. Right now I am obsessed with juicy shades of neon watermelon red - a few of which you can find at the drugstore by Sally Hansen.
Now that you look your absolute foxiest, get ready for my destination style and swimwear guides this week!!

Damn girl. You look as hot as the Miami sun!
